Set the multimeter to continuity (beep mode). Touch tip-to-tip and sleeve-to-sleeve. While the meter is beeping, aggressively bend the cable near the strain relief. If the beep stutters or cuts out, you have a broken internal conductor. ⚠️ : Never solder across a cracked tune
