The name "Chimunthu" is derived from the local dialect, meaning "the place of the gods." According to local lore, Chimunthu was created by the gods themselves, who descended upon the earth to create a sanctuary for their worship and reverence. Over time, the forest grew and evolved, becoming a sacred site for the local population, who believed that the gods still roamed its ancient paths.
