In an interview with The Korea Times , director Yoo Suk-moon revealed that the film's action sequences were inspired by traditional Korean martial arts, as well as the works of legendary martial arts film director, Kim Ki-young. "We wanted to create a film that would showcase the beauty and ferocity of Korean martial arts," Yoo explained.
