Prince Caspian is the “Empire Strikes Back” of the Narnia series—darker, more complex, and less comfortable than the original. It stumbles in pacing (the middle act drags) and underuses its iconic lion, but it deserves credit for taking risks.
When the children are summoned back to Narnia by Caspian’s horn, the story transforms into a rescue mission and a war for independence. Unlike the first film, where the protagonists were largely reactive, here they are strategists leading a rebellion.
