Golden Software once offered a fully functional 15-day trial of Surfer 9. That link is now dead. The company has moved on to Surfer 25+ and no longer supports version 9.

4.5/5 stars

A: Yes – current students can buy the latest Surfer at ~70% off. But that is for new versions, not v9.

(developed by Golden Software) has long been the industry standard for 3D surface mapping, contouring, and geospatial analysis. For geologists, environmental scientists, and engineers, version 9—released over a decade ago—still holds a nostalgic reputation for its balance of power and simplicity.

A: Possibly, but not reliably. Surfer 9 was built for Windows XP/Vista/7. You may encounter display glitches, installer errors, or activation server failures (since Golden’s legacy activation servers likely no longer run).
