Gyunei lays a trap. He pretends to be disabled, broadcasting false telemetry. Kayra, the most level-headed of the Londo Bell pilots, moves in for a capture. Hathaway, sensing something wrong (a Newtype premonition), screams a warning too late.

Episode 1 then shifts to the Ra Cailum . Captain Bright Noa (now a weathered, tired commander) orders the fleet to intercept the main Axis asteroid. Amuro launches in the Re-GZ, alongside his wingman, Lieutenant Kayra Su, and a young hotshot pilot named —Bright’s rebellious son.
