This is vintage SRK in three modes:

We flashback to 2002. Samar Anand is a carefree, happy-go-lucky immigrant working odd jobs in London to make ends meet. He is the antithesis of the brooding hero typical of modern cinema. He meets Meera Thapar (Katrina Kaif), a wealthy, reserved woman who is engaged to her childhood friend, Roger. Meera is deeply religious, making promises to God in exchange for favors—a character trait that becomes central to the conflict.
