Twilight Struggle -
During a player’s action phase, they may stage a "Coup" in a battleground country. A coup represents a violent overthrow of a government (e.g., the CIA toppling Mossadegh in Iran). When you stage a coup in a battleground, the DEFCON level drops by 1.
Because of DEFCON, Twilight Struggle is a game of "controlled aggression." You want to push your opponent, force them to waste moves, and manipulate the turn order to make them be the one who has to degrade the global situation. It is the only board game where a sigh of relief is a legitimate strategy. Twilight Struggle
