On the planet Tython, the ancestors of the Jedi, known as the Je’daii, have established a civilization. Unlike the Jedi of the prequel trilogy who serve as peacekeepers for a galaxy-wide republic, the Je’daii were isolationists. They were tasked with maintaining the balance of the Force on Tython. If a Je’daii strayed too far toward the light (Ashla) or the dark (Bogan), they were exiled to one of Tython’s moons to meditate and regain their equilibrium.

The story follows , a skilled Je’daii Ranger, who is summoned by the Je’daii Council to track down her estranged brother, Dalien . He has escaped from a prison transport and is obsessed with finding a fabled force anomaly called the “Gravemarker” — a strange phenomenon tied to an ancient, extinct species, the Gree . If Dalien reaches it, he could unleash a catastrophe. Lanoree must overcome her own painful past with her brother to stop him.
