The album reached gold status later in 1997 and is remembered as a staple of the 90s Queens hip-hop scene.

The group's early days were marked by a relentless grind, with the members performing at local shows and parties, honing their craft, and making connections in the industry. It was during this period that they caught the attention of Puff Daddy, aka Sean Combs, who would go on to play a pivotal role in their career. Impressed by their raw talent and authentic street vibe, Combs signed Lost Boyz to his fledgling Bad Boy Records in 1995.

In the wake of the tragedy, Mr. Cheeks became the torchbearer of the phrase. The words were no longer just a catchy outro for a song; they became a eulogy. When Cheeks would perform live or appear on radio, ending his set with "Love, Peace, and Nappiness" felt like paying homage to a fallen brother. It became a reminder that peace is fragile, love is necessary, and happiness (nappiness) is hard-won.

The album arrived during a pivotal moment in hip-hop history, dropping just months after the tragic death of The Notorious B.I.G. and amidst a shift in the genre's landscape. Produced by heavyweights like , Bink! , and DJ Ron G , Love, Peace & Nappiness leaned into "thicker" production, often incorporating live instrumentation and warm, melodic grooves. Key highlights of the 15-track project include:

The legacy of Lost Boyz extends beyond their music. They are often credited with helping to shape the sound of late 1990s hip-hop, influencing a generation of artists with their unique blend of humor and street savvy. Their impact can be seen in the work of later groups and artists who have followed in their footsteps, bringing a sense of humor and authenticity to their music.

stands as the second studio effort from the South Jamaica, Queens quartet: Mr. Cheeks, Freaky Tah, DJ Spigg Nice, and Pretty Lou . Arriving just a year after their massive debut Legal Drug Money
