The Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES), while a powerhouse of 16-bit gaming, is unique because the base console (Basic Input/Output System) in the way modern PCs or later consoles like the PlayStation do.

It is a sound processor microcode. Most modern emulators (Snes9x v1.60+, Higan, Mesen-S) have this code hardcoded internally because it is copyrighted but tiny (roughly 64 bytes to 1KB). You do not need to download it separately.

Do not download these files. The only BIOS files you should ever seek out are for PlayStation, Saturn, Dreamcast, Neo Geo, and Sega CD.

In the context of video game consoles, the BIOS is a small block of code stored on a read-only memory (ROM) chip inside the console’s motherboard. When you turn the console on, the CPU immediately looks for this code. The BIOS typically does three things:
