While official police confirmation is still pending, local vigilante sources confirmed the death toll to Famzn News . The victims, reportedly including a nursing mother and an elderly farmer, were killed while trying to flee into nearby bushes.
In addition to the seven confirmed deaths, at least two other individuals remain missing, and search parties have been organized to comb the surrounding bushes.
The All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN), Enugu State chapter, has called for the immediate deployment of armed agricultural marshals to protect farmers during the planting and harvesting seasons.
