Originally, Quentin Tarantino intended for Kill Bill to be released as a single, four-hour cinematic experience. However, due to its massive length and the studio's concerns regarding box office performance, the film was split into two separate volumes released in 2003 and 2004. The Whole Bloody Affair is the director's preferred "complete" version, which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in 2003 and saw a limited screening at the New Beverly Cinema in 2011.
