The film picks up where the previous installment, "Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation", left off. Ethan Hunt and his team, including Benji Dunn (Simon Pegg) and Luther Stickell (Ving Rhames), are on a mission to stop the Apostles, a rogue organization led by August Walker (Henry Cavill). The team soon discovers that the Apostles have obtained three plutonium cores, which they plan to use to create nuclear bombs.
