Season 2 of Outer Banks is less about the discovery of treasure and more about the resilience of the marginalized. It ends on a massive cliffhanger—the revelation that John B’s father is alive—which fundamentally changes the DNA of the show moving forward. While it sacrifices some of the grounded, "indie" feel of the first season for blockbuster-style chases, it succeeds in making the world of the OBX feel much larger and more dangerous.
