Each uses a slightly different firmware. The programming software is often universal, but always verify in the release notes. The most common file name is AT-588_CPS_Setup.exe .
While the Anytone AT-588 does allow for front-panel programming (manually entering frequencies via the keypad and knob), this process is tedious. Entering a simple offset or CTCSS tone can take dozens of button presses. If you are programming dozens of repeater channels, this method is prone to error and frustration.
