Gotham City's influence extends far beyond the world of comics and cinema. By 1995, Warner Bros. was feeling the heat from parents who complained Burton’s Gotham was too scary for children. The result was Joel Schumacher’s Batman Forever (1995) and Batman & Robin (1997). This is where the identity fractured.
