Shadow Gallery was founded by vocalist Mike DeAngelis, guitarist Chris Burning, and bassist John McCauley. The band's early years were marked by experimentation and lineup changes, but it wasn't until the arrival of guitarist Zac Wylde (of Ozzy Osbourne fame) and drummer Eric Adams that Shadow Gallery began to take shape. With the addition of keyboardist Tom Welling, the band's sound became more refined, and their progressive metal style started to take form.
