At TAP’s compressor station near Fier, Albania, two WinDrive units are connected to 3.4-megawatt wind turbines. Each WinDrive mechanically drives a reciprocating gas compressor. When wind speeds exceed 4–5 m/s, the compressors run entirely on wind power. When wind is low, they seamlessly switch to conventional electric or gas-driven backup—but crucially, the WinDrive system has delivered an annual renewable share of over 60–70% at that station.
