This is the most common point of confusion. Unlike a camera, the serial number is not always stamped on the outside of the handle.

True collectors look for matching serial numbers on the brush body and the original wooden case. Kodak rarely numbered the cases, but when they did (a sticker or hand-painted number matching the brush), the "matching set" adds a 40% premium.
