The sandman's popularity soared in the 19th century with the publication of E.T.A. Hoffmann's 1817 short story "Der Sandmann" (The Sand-Man). Hoffmann's tale introduced the sandman as a malevolent figure who sought to harm children, rather than help them sleep. This darker interpretation of the sandman has influenced many literary works, including horror stories and fantasy novels.
However, the original folklore had a darker side. In E.T.A. Hoffmann’s 1816 story Der Sandmann , the character is not a benevolent fairy but a monstrous creature who throws sand into children’s eyes to make them pop out, collecting the eyes to feed his own children on the moon. This horrific version of the inspired Sigmund Freud’s essay on "The Uncanny" and set the stage for a character who bridges the gap between comfort and terror. sandman

A beautiful place
Great post…I would have never known this was his house! His dancing house in Prague is too unusual. He has some different designs VERY eye-catching. I must admit I checked out his Tiffany line and I do like some of it.
Could i please ask who has written this article.
