The past decade has seen the rise of streaming services, which have disrupted the traditional entertainment industry. Services like Netflix, Amazon Prime, and Disney+ have become incredibly popular, offering a vast library of content that can be accessed on-demand. The 1980s also saw the rise of home video, with the introduction of VHS (Video Home System) and later, DVD (Digital Versatile Disc).

Is this evolution healthy? Critics argue that the need for constant engagement has created "content fatigue"—the exhausting feeling that your hobby has become homework. Proponents, however, argue that never before have we had so much agency. We aren't just watching a story; we are building a community around it.
