Genisys — Terminator 5
Sarah and Kyle use a makeshift time machine to jump to 2017. There, they encounter an adult John Connor , but with a dark twist: Terminator Genisys (2015)

Technically, Terminator Genisys is a spectacle. The recreation of the 1984 Los Angeles setting is meticulously done, featuring a digital "young Arnold" that remains a benchmark for de-aging technology. The action sequences, particularly the golden gate bridge set-piece and the battle against the T-3000—a nanotechnological John Connor—pushed the boundaries of what the franchise had previously attempted.
As of 2025, with the Terminator franchise now largely dormant following the cancellation of further sequels, deserves a second look. It is not a good Terminator film in the classical sense—it lacks the gritty, horrifying tone of the first film and the emotional perfection of the second. Courtney faced the unenviable task of replacing Michael Biehn. While fit and capable, his Kyle Reese is more of a standard action hero than a haunted, threadbare soldier from a nuclear hellscape. The chemistry between Clarke and Courtney feels functional rather than fated, weakening the romantic core of the franchise.
