9-ta: Kompania

The second half of the movie shifts to Afghanistan. The cinematography is stunning: dusty mountains, scorched valleys, and the constant, low hum of anxiety. The 9th Company is assigned to hold a seemingly insignificant hilltop (Hill 3234) to secure a supply route.

The film follows a group of young recruits drafted into the Soviet Army during the final years of the Afghan War (1979-1989). We watch them transform from clumsy, frightened boys into hardened soldiers. 9-Ta Kompania
