But listen closer. “Big Guns” and “Piece of Me” have a grit that Poison and Warrant lacked. Then there is “Youth Gone Wild,” the anthem for disenfranchised kids that transcended the genre. And of course, “18 and Life.” A top-down, narrative ballad about a teenager with a stolen gun. It was darker than anything their peers were writing.
