It bridges your computer operating system with the monitor hardware. This allows you to manage native hardware parameters using mouse-driven applications like the ASUS DisplayWidget Center instead of struggling with tactile monitor bezel buttons.
ASUSOSDOverlay.exe (often spawned as a child process)
ASUSOSD.sys (typically found in C:\Windows\System32\drivers\ )
EAC (Easy Anti-Cheat) or BattlEye flags ASUSOSD.sys as a “suspicious driver” due to its use of KeStackAttachProcess to inject overlay into game processes. Result: Game fails to launch or bans are triggered. Workaround: Manually stop ASUSOSDService before gaming – but this disables Fn keys entirely.
: If a Windows update (like 23H2) causes issues, ASUS recommends uninstalling the current driver and plugin from Settings > Apps & Features
